Quality Techs

Summary:
The Quality Technician will support the activities of the Quality Engineers, Materials, Technical, and Production teams with day-to-day factory floor activities and issues with customers and suppliers. Quality Technicians will use training, data and observation to continuously improve our processes to reduce risk and provide quality products to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and monitoring on all needed production processes or incoming supplied parts or customer returns.
  • Inspect products and processes using gauges, coordinate measuring machine (CMM), C3 Contaminant Testing, SPI, AOI, scales, oscilloscope and vision prior to shipment as needed.
  • Use data collection and analysis of trends to make improvements and reduce risk to our customers.
  • Keep all gauges and test machines used for monitoring quality calibrated and properly maintained. 
  • Support the Quality Engineers with containment and problem solving for both external and internal issues including sorting, rework, customer visits. (8D or other problem solving process)
  • Complete Continuous Improvement projects as assigned to increase quality, reduce variation, reduce waste and cost in our processes.
  • Support the Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Core Tools as requested to ensure that all requirements of new or changed parts or processes are understood and addressed and those quality requirements are defined and communicated to suppliers.
  • Understand and apply sampling, non-conforming material control, and auditing as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.

Education/ Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • College or certifications courses a plus.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Quality role.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • IATF 16949:2016 or ISO 9001:2015 experience/knowledge, electronics, IPC, PCB, IATF or ISO Auditor, ability to understand GD&T or read blueprints.
  • Competent in basic quality tools such as statistical process control techniques, GR&R, GD&T and print reading.

Quality Engineer

Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for Seeking Perfection in the quality of EBWE’s products to Make Our Customers Successful by meeting or exceeding customer expectations and specifications. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products in a Lean Environment.
  • Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection. 
  • Develop, execute and analyze quality-reporting measures such as FPY, FTQ, PPM.
  • Assist in process certification and validation. 
  • Review customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans. 
  • Review suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements. 
  • Lead internal and external quality audits including, but not limited to IATF, ISO, FEMR, for ISO 9000 compliance.  
  • Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented. 
  • Compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities. 
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses. 
  • Knowledge and ability to learn use of test equipment including AOI, SPI, Vision systems, CMM.

Plant Manager

Summary:
Manage the activities on the shop floor, under the direction of the Vice President and follow established procedures and approved processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all production operations related to making the product. 
  • Dedicated to REMOVING WASTE AND ADDING VALUE FOR THE CUSTOMER.

Summary:

Controls Engineer

Summary:
The Controls Engineer provides technical expertise to optimize new and existing automated manufacturing equipment and processes through visual systems, automation. This Engineering position provides on shift-technical support to Operations and the Maintenance team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Senior Controls Engineer to oversee successful operation of all control/automated systems for production with a focus on safety, quality, volume, and cost (SQVC). These systems include but are not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and all associated communication and Inputs/Outputs (I/O), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) or touch panels, safety systems and safety circuits, traceability and bar-coding systems, bowl feed systems, vision systems, robotics, torque and screw blow feed systems, variable frequency drives (VFD), servo control, pneumatic systems, and miscellaneous instrumentation and sensors.
  • Update, Upgrade, and support automation Equipment.
  • Provide updates as needed for SQVC to the control systems mentioned above. Provide daily support to equipment as needed and communicate lessons learned to technical staff.
  • Coordinate with production and maintenance on existing machine control modifications or installations
  • Update technical documentation, including bill of materials, Detailed Design Specifications, equipment testing and electrical schematics.
  • Existing program support (troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Design and Build new automation control systems and electrical panels.
  • Reduce downtime and increase process efficiencies by monitoring daily downtime metrics with the team. Prioritize downtime and efficiency losses. Create plans to solve each issue and report results. Systematically eliminate issues through a Plan Do Check Adjust (PDCA) process.
  • Lead troubleshooting, diagnosing and correction of production equipment.
  • Develop Maintenance and Automation Technicians on competency to troubleshoot and support automation controls.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Combine theoretical and practical knowledge toward innovation of new products and processes
  • Work independently on smaller projects from conception to completion. This work will include “hands-on” type projects.

  • An Associate’s Degree or higher in a related technical degree is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical degree, is preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in Technical manufacturing role involved in PLC and programming.
  • Preferably 3+ years of experience in Allen-Bradley PLC’s, MicroLogix, RSLogix 5000, Factory Talk, HMI
  • Solidworks a plus.
  • Machine vision systems a plus.
  • Experience with Data Control Systems – SQL a plus.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Summary:
This role is in printed circuit board assembly and working on process flow for the operation in a manufacturing facility. As part of this role, you would be programming equipment to support new and existing products. You will support the production floor by developing and implementing process improvements through design efficiency, problem solving, and technical support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigates and resolves problems by evaluating technologies to increase efficiency and performance
  • Assists in the introduction of new products through tooling and production equipment, training/manuals, bill of materials,
  • Provides continuing product engineering by overseeing the design of production machinery and will identify and recommend solutions to production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling.
  • Obtain, organize, and analyze data to prepare charts and reports. These could include but are not limited to: EXCEL, WORD, AUTOCAD, POWERPOINT, AND MICROSOFT PROJECT.
  • Assists with developing and implementing cost reduction and cost effectiveness.
  • Determines the need for, establishes and maintains manufacturing standards and engineering product or process specifications.

AOI Operator

Summary:
Able to effectively operate the AOI operating system on the production line; having exceptional attention to detail and understanding of fundamentals of quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Navigate and operate in Windows OS environment performing proper PC boot up and shut down and able to navigate drop down menus.
  • Print & Documentation recognition and interpretation of Customer/EBW Prints, WI’s/VA’s, Bill of Material, and IPC.
  • Inspect the board under the camera to ensure solderablity to be IPC compliant, part placement correct, and for orientation and polarity to be accurate.
  • Advise Tech if part is off from what the silkscreen on the PCB’s shows.
  • Check for skewing, no solder and missing parts.  Crucial visual inspection of the board to ensure quality.

Education/ Experience:

  • High School Education or Equivalent is required.
  • Experience in Electronics and/ production environment preferred.

Manufacturing Technician I

Summary:
The Manufacturing Technician I’s function is to provide technical support to all the production equipment & machinery on the plant floor. The Manufacturing Technician I will install, troubleshoot, program, repair any issues with equipment; along with providing maintenance support for the entire facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment.
  • Coordinate with Vendor’s on necessary outside repairs and new equipment needs
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures formachine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Provides support and training to operators and assembly personnel when necessary on various equipment & machines
  • Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical safety problems and inherent dangers involved.
  • Assist in plant maintenance internal and external activities including coordinating outside contractors and verification of work completion.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, systems operate efficiently.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Record maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Responsible for repairs and troubleshooting of shop equipment.
  • Advises operators and technicians of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education/ Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a higher level production employee.
  • Experience with SMT related equipment preferred.
